| Project timing: | 2007—2012 | Objectives: | The tunnel will connect the city center and north-east part of the city during the period of bridge raising, what will lengthen the Neva River period of navigation and increase Baltic navigable waterway capacity | Description: | From the north, the tunnel will be joined by key metropolitan thoroughfares leading to the Ring road and major federal and regional highways. From the south, the tunnel will connect with the Smolny Embankment, which is linked to the main central streets. Total length of the tunnel – 1 km with 6 pathways. The tunnel is expected to serve over 60 000 vehicles daily on the basis of set conjunction fee | Location: | Between Liteiny and Bolsheokhtinsky Bridges | Project status: | Design was developed.
