Orlovsky Toll Tunnel under Neva river

Objectives:

The tunnel will connect the city center and north-east part of the city during the period of bridge raising, what will lengthen the Neva River period of navigation and increase Baltic navigable waterway capacity

Description:

From the north, the tunnel will be joined by key metropolitan thoroughfares leading to the Ring road and major federal and regional highways. From the south, the tunnel will connect with the Smolny Embankment, which is linked to the main central streets. Total length of the tunnel – 1 km with 6 pathways. The tunnel is expected to serve over 60 000 vehicles daily on the basis of set conjunction fee

Project status:

Design was developed. Projects of 4 companies were approved to participate in tender for concession agreement:

  1. Nevskaya Concession company, established by Vinci;
  2. Nevsky Tunnel consortium: Strabag AG, Suri Holdings Limited, Zueblin AG, Egis Project SA;
  3. Buigproject operating, established by Boyugues;
  4. Neva Traverse GmbH consortium: Hochtief Construction AG, Hochtief PPP Solutions, Royal Boskalis Westminster NV.

Submission of competition offers will end on 19th of December 2008.

The winner will be voted on 6th of February 2009
